Welcome to the Busy Bee Blog

Hello, I’m Briony Beattie, and I’m excited to officially launch The Busy Bee Initiative — a

platform dedicated to raising awareness, sparking conversation, and amplifying the lived

experiences of disabled people.

Why “Busy Bee”?

The name comes from a nickname that my nieces gave me. Family, friends, and people who

know me personally call me “Bee.”

My Lived Experience

I live with cerebral palsy, and both of my legs and my right arm are affected. This means I

navigate the world using only my left arm. I am also permanently confined to an electric

wheelchair. Every day, I experience both visible and invisible barriers, from physical spaces

that aren’t accessible to assumptions and stereotypes that people hold about disability.

These experiences are the foundation of everything I do with The Busy Bee Initiative.

Through my personal writings, I share honest reflections about what it means to live in a

world that isn’t always designed for disabled people and what we can do to make it better.

Why I Use Artificial Intelligence

You might wonder why AI is part of this initiative. For me, it’s simple: creating podcasts or

other content can be physically challenging, given my mobility limitations. Artificial

intelligence becomes my accessibility tool and amplifier — transforming my writings and

lived experiences into dynamic podcast conversations.

AI does not replace my voice. It extends it. It allows my insights, stories, and advocacy to

reach audiences far beyond what I could do alone. It makes independence, accessibility, and

amplification a reality.

What The Busy Bee Initiative Is

  • Not a charity or foundation — it is purely a platform for dialogue, awareness, and understanding.

  • Powered by lived experience — everything is rooted in what I personally experience and reflect on.

  • Amplified by technology — AI helps bring these experiences into podcast conversations that are easy to share and access.

  • Guided by the motto: Nothing about us without us.

This initiative is a space for anyone who wants to learn, reflect, or take action toward a more

inclusive and accessible world. Every post, podcast, and conversation is designed to provoke

thought, inspire change, and encourage meaningful discussion.

What’s Next

The Busy Bee Initiative will regularly share:

  • Podcasts based on my personal writings and lived experiences

  • Blog posts exploring disability, accessibility, and inclusion

  • Insights and reflections on how AI can support accessibility and advocacy

I hope that this platform becomes a hive of knowledge, empathy, and action, where stories

are shared, questions are asked, and solutions are imagined — together.
